Letter to postpone elections due to corona vaccination: AG against SEC in High Court
- The AP High Court has adjourned till Tuesday the hearing filed by the AP SEC in the Division Bench of the AP High Court challenging the cancellation of the AP Local Bodies Schedule. A lengthy hearing on the petition was held on Monday
- The Advocate General brought to the notice of the High Court bench that the Panchayat Secretary had written to the AP SEC to postpone the election schedule of local bodies in the wake of the corona vaccine.
- The High Court bench asked the AG several details about the corona vaccine process. Questioned whether the vaccinators had been trained. The court asked the government whether they were vaccinating people under the age of 50. The court questioned who would fall under the category of frontline warriors.
- On the other hand, the SEC advocate brought to the notice of the bench that the AP had proceeded with the local body elections as per the High Court order. The High Court also directed the SEC counsel to co-operate with the election process.
