E  RUPI was introduced by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

The e-RUPI was launched by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

e-RUPI: PhonePay, GooglePay, Debit Card, Credit Cards ..... The Center has launched a new scheme to make cashless payments without any hassle.  It is making available to the public a new approach to handle cash transactions more easily.

The National Payment Corporation of India has created a new scheme for cashless transactions.  The e-Rupee Scheme (E-RUPI) will be introduced to be cashless and contactless in a simpler manner than the currently available payment methods.

Are they in the early stages?

Currently, the government is providing medicines to TB patients every month under the AYUSHMAN India Prime Minister's Birth Health Plan, conducting necessary diagnostic tests and providing nutritious food under the Mata Shishu Development Scheme.  In addition, fertilizer is being provided to farmers under subsidy.  The Center will provide financial assistance in this regard in the coming days.  The Center has suggested that private sector companies can also use the e-RUPI method for the welfare of their employees.

Cash payments in e-rupee payment are sent to the beneficiary's mobile phone via Cure Code or SMMS string vouchers.  The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that the beneficiary can use the voucher or QR code wherever he wants.  The system was developed in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health and National Health Authority.

 How to use e-rupee vouchers?

These vouchers are like e-gift cards which are prepaid in nature. The code of these cards can be shared via SMS or QR code.  For example, if you take e-rupee vouchers for the Kovid-19 vaccine, you will only need to redeem them for vaccines only.

Why is e-Rupee different from other payments?

E-Rupee is not a flat form.  This is a voucher intended for specific services.  E-R UPI vouchers are intended for specific purposes only.  These vouchers can be used without a bank account or digital payment app or smartphone.  That is the main difference.  These vouchers are mostly used for health related payments.  Corporates can issue these vouchers for their employees.  The center had earlier said it would bring an option for the vaccine e-voucher.  An e-voucher for vaccination can be purchased at a private hospital, as well as given as a gift to another.  The person who buys the vouchers and issues them to others can track the use of the vouchers.

 How to redeem?

No voucher card or hard copy is required to redeem these.  The QR code received in the message is sufficient.  According to the National Health Authority, eight banks have already signed agreements with E-R UPI.

These include State Bank of India,

 HDFC, Axis,

 Punjab National Bank,

 Bank of Baroda,

 Canara Bank,

 Indus Sind Bank,

 There are ICICI Bank.
