SHRESHTA 2024: A boon to poor students... Applications invited for 'excellent' education

Good news for talented scheduled caste poor students. Applications for admission in classes 9 and 11 in private CBSE residential schools under the Shrestha scheme have started.

Internet Desk: This is a golden opportunity for SC students who are missing out on corporate education regardless of talent. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a notification for the National Entrance Test for Shrestha (SHRESHTA) (NETS) 2024 scheme under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Talented SC students who have qualified in this examination are invited to apply for admission in classes 9 and 11 in CBSE affiliated leading private residential schools. About 3,000 seats will be filled across the country through this excellent education scheme brought with the aim of contributing to their social and economic development by imparting quality education to students belonging to scheduled castes.

Eligibility: Students studying in Class VIII and Class 10 in the academic year 2023-24 are eligible for this entrance exam. Annual income of parents should not exceed Rs.2.5 lakhs.

Applications: Apply online from March 12 to April 4 at 5 PM. No application fee. From April 6th to 8th, there is an opportunity for amendments in the applications

The exam will be conducted on May 24. There will be an offline test (pen and paper mode). It lasts for 3 hours from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Admit cards can be downloaded from May 12.

The results will be declared within four or six weeks of the examination.

Written Exam Pattern: This exam will consist of 100 questions. Questions will be asked from Mathematics, Science, Social Science, General Awareness/Knowledge. The exam will carry 400 marks with 4 marks per question. There will be no negative marks. The question paper will be in Hindi and English language. Students appearing for the entrance exam in class 9 should read the syllabus of class 8 in NCERT syllabus. Students appearing for Class 11 entrance exam should study NCERT Class 10 Syllabus.
