Due to technical reasons, money will also be cut. Ticket is not issued. In such cases IRCTC will refund the amount. This process takes days to complete. This is a problem that is often faced by railway ticket bookers. This will be resolved soon. IRCTC will speed up the refund process. As a result, there were reports in the English press quoting relevant sources that the cash would be returned within an hour or a few hours.

 

The Ministry of Railways has taken this decision in view of receiving complaints from users about refunds from time to time. Moreover, efforts are being made to bring uniformity to all types of refunds. In January this year, the Railway Board had directed the concerned departments to significantly reduce the time taken to issue refunds. In this order, IRCTC and the Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), which provides IT services to that organization, are currently working on it.

 

Usually IRCTC starts the process on the next day in case the tickets are not booked. After that banks/payment gateways start the process. It takes 3-4 working days. In cases where debit/credit card is used, it is also a week. The same is the case when the ticket is cancelled, when the ticket is canceled while it is in the waiting list. TDR is taking more time. At present, when everything is being done automatically without human contact, the question arises as to why there is a delay in the issuance of refunds. In this context, IRCTC has focused on issuing refunds.
